Premiered in December 29, 1999, was commissioned as a part of a homage to professor Purita de la Riva by the Council of Oviedo, Spain. Refracciones Asturianas (Asturian refractions) is the personal point of view of the composer about Asturian folklore, and specially, the music of Anselmo Gonzalez del Valle, Asturian romantic composer of the beginning of the XX century, very appreciated by Prof. de la Riva, who, as a piano performer, used to include pieces by him in her concerts.
