Magnificat (2008) is an hymn sung by the Virgin Mary in thanksgiving for the privilege of becoming the Mother of God, and for the goodness of God in redeeming Humanity. In this work for solo violin, the composer reflects three emotions of this text: rejoicing of the Mother; the pride of Man, contrasting with the humility of the Virgin; and the ecstasy of Her for receiving the blessing of God.
The song of the Virgin, symbolized by the sound of the solo violin, explores the different registers and colors of the instrument, and at the same time the three emotions mentioned.
